Heading that way next week and don’t really have a clue what to expect. Fishing one day if anyone has some tips for me

It's been years since I've fished there. Pretty cold water so wear waders. There's been restrictions at some of the MO trout parks not allowing felt soles, rubber only. As far as I remember, there is no designated fly fishing only area at this park.
We always fished really light line (1-4#) with salmon eggs.
Hope you have fun

Thanks. Any thing special I need to bring? I don’t know crap about this kind of trout fishing.

You should be able to get everything you need at any Walmart off of I-44 in the vicinity (small gold hooks/eggs/can of corn/small rooster tails)..
You can bank fish if it's not crowded. Opening day is either Mar or Apr 1st, and it's a cluster frick, shouldn't be bad now. Going to be hot (not LA hot) so standing in cold clear water will feel pretty good.
You can get your non resident license & daily trout tag at the park, or at least you used to. If not Walmart.

There's a lot to do in that area. They'll release the trout, you can't fish until a horn sounds, then it's a mess if it's crowded. You could canoe or kayak south of the park and catch some trout, smallmouth, bream, etc. Float trips usually have the rivers packed with drunk kids. Best during the week for sure. I grew up going to Steeleville a whole bunch and I miss the good old days.

I was giving my neighbor's kids some old rods & reels yesterday and he mentioned that he had tried to reserve a spot for an RV next week at Maramec. No luck as everything is already reserved including tent sites.
It may be crowded, but you'll still have fun. Also you may need really light split shot to keep your bait down and a floating strike indicator.
