Looking for input on TFO spinning rod situation.

I have 2 older TFO GTS S734-1 rods Med power, Fast action, lure weight 1/4-3/4oz, line 6-12lb. I could send them in for warranty and get 2 new rods for $50 each. I used these for inshore/marsh/grand isle along the beach for specs smaller reds and the likes. With a popping cork on top of live/artificial or a cast and retrieve type bate and no cork. Paired with Penn battle II 2000 series running 12-15lb braid.
My question is with the new versions of their medium power rod they lowered the lure weight to 3/16-1/2oz and raised the line weight to 8-14.
Since I like to throw popping corks id rather have the higher lure weight. I could get all the guides changed on the 2 that I have but it might cost a little more than $50ea. Is that a better idea than dropping down in the lure weight?
Not that much of a difference to make a difference either way?

Get the guides repaired. I have a TFO spinning rod as well and the guides are shite. They will fail again in future.
I plan on getting the guides repaired on mine depending on price.

They have one place in town that does the work but when I talked to them they told me they were out of stock on a lot of stuff...I know nothing about different guides.
What are some do's and dont's of guides?

Differing quality
The guides TFO uses on their spinning rods are junk IMO. You have guide issues with yours, I have guide issues with mine, My father has guide issues with his. Can't be coincidence. Its not a hard repair but tedious and you need someone who has wrapped guides on rods before or it will come out all janky.
Fuji guides are generally looked at as good standard guides.
Where are you thinking about bringing the rod for repair? I might swing by Professional Sport Shop and see what kind of estimate they give me. It's not an expensive rod but I have mine in light action and its fun to fish under the lights and for goofing off.

OCR (Oliver Custom Rods) in Lafayette is the only place i know of. They build custom rods and can do the repair. I guess I just need to go by there and see what he has. I was on the side of replacing the guides and after you having issues I think I will just go that route.
