I have two rebuilt Curado 201's, the old green ones. Don't have much in them but they are in good shape and work well. Looking for a decent rod for each - this is a value purchase. Any suggestions?

What's budget for each rod? "Value purchase" is pretty vague. To some people that's $50 and to others that is $150.

So what's your budget? It wasnt meant as a rhetorical question. I'm trying to help you out. You'll get a lot more applicable answers if you specify your acceptable price range.

ETA: new curados run $160+ and plenty of folks still regard the older curados as the GOAT inshore reel. So yeah, to some a $150 rod is a good deal for that setup. It's all about perspective.

Diawa Gulfcoast inshore casting rods.
I like the action and they went on sale from $99 to $24 a few years ago. Might still find one.

What’s funny is because to title says trout and reds almost all the recommendations will be for coastal rods.

Bring a reel to the store put it different rods whichever ones fits your hand and budget the best get a Med/hvy fast and a Medium fast and go fishing. Asking about a rod is the same as asking about a reel or fishing line or truck or a boat or GPS or,,,,,, you get my drift

Would you spend $150 on a new rod to fish with it? These are basically utility rigs to keep in the pickup so to speak and not worry about. That's what I purchased the Curado's for. Capisce?

Why would you not spend money on a rod you like regardless of what reel you’re gonna put on it? The rod is the most important part, the reel is just bait delivery and retrieval. Do you epoxy your reels to your rods, is it like a lifetime commitment to put a reel on a rod? I keep extra reels in my boat line like spools of line but I don’t think I’ve ever put a rod in my box without a reel. I do have some in the shop that’ll probably never get used except by my grandkids with a zebco on it. Come on man, lol

And I’ll be able to sling for twice as long (as in time) with no effort with my $200 reel.

Less effort, yeah sure but doesn’t mean you’re gonna do it better

Twice as long, maybe when I’m 70

Because I want to have a couple of rigs I don't worry about. I'll save the worrying for the Avids, Greenwaters, et al.

Then just buy an ugly stick and be done with it.
