LCBA sent the following last night to let everyone know when and where service for Theophile would happen. Just sharing in case anyone on the site wants to go.
The Louisiana fishing community has lost a dear friend.
Charter captain, business owner, LCBA board member and straight up great guy Theophile Bourgeois tragically passed away Sunday at the age of 55.
Services will be held Monday, Aug. 26.
Visitation will take place from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jean Lafitte Auditorium (4953 City Park St., Jean Lafitte, La., 70067).
Funeral service will follow from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church-Lafitte (2653 Jean Lafitte Blvd., Lafitte, La., 70067).
Everyone touched by Theophile’s unforgettably unique personality and impact on the Louisiana fishing landscape is asked to attend.
Theophile possessed the rare quality of being able to put customers on the fish while also making them laugh with his charm and wit. It wasn’t an act. He lived his life with a boisterous cheerfulness that translated seamlessly to every fishing trip and every television and social media appearance.
He could be serious when the time called for it too, helping LCBA achieve several policy victories as a dedicated board member.
Our deepest condolences are with Theophile’s family, friends and colleagues.
There will never be another charter captain, or human being, quite like Theophile Bourgeois.
Rest in peace, brother.
