Hell, there's no telling how old the crabs they serve in MD are after we catch them here and ship them all the way there

You are confusing other shellfish (perhaps oysters) with crabs ?

Ours must taste better than all the ones they have swimming around in Chesapeake Bay and it's surroundings, where I spend time every summer. Trust me, they have their own crabs. They just don't have their own redfish...or many of em anyway.

No, he is 100% correct. We ship a ton of crabs that way. Go to the New Orleans aiport in the morning and you will see crab companies delivering their crabs just about every day during crab season. We ship a majority of our #1 crabs that way because they pay more money for them. Their is a huge crab market up there and we help fill the demand.

Hmmm...interdasting. Chesapeake if chock full of blue crabs...and crabbers.
Where do they ship THEIR crabs too? Or is there just THAT much demand up there?

This. Their is a huge market that way and they are willing to pay more money for crabs than we are here in Louisiana. I'm pretty sure a lot of crabs go to the Jessup and Baltimore area. I'm really not sure where else.

Same thing used to go for Red Snapper. Very few red snapper used to be sold in Louisiana to restaurants and markets. A majority of the commercial red snapper caught in the gulf of mexico used to go up the east coast to New York and Boston areas where they will pay more for the fish. Most likely because there is a lot more money than here.

I need to go ahead and move up there. We get crabs there every summer, catch a lot of them ourselves...and they friggin STEAM em. I brought a pot and burner one summer when I went in my truck, they LOVED boiled crabs. Yet they didn't go buy a pot and burner.
