Before I start tracking, what kind of blood does this look like to y’all?

350-400 yard shot. Pretty sure it’s a good hit. Haven’t shot that far in a long time.

If it’s like that for a little ways I would track it. It looks good, baw. If it slows down quick I might would give it some time

Dead deer blood. Whether you find it we’ll see. That deer is dead though. At that distance that bullet expanded fully i would imagine.

Any update?

Jumped him up 30 feet in the woods and he crossed a canal about 100 yds away. Coming back in the morning. He’s hurt though.

The rack was just outside the ears, so that’s a good buck for back here. When I jumped him, that dude got a moose head. Rack was behind palmettos then he hobbled up and that’s the last I saw of him. Like I said, he’s hurt. Took him 5 seconds to get off the ground.
At least a nice 6 from what I could tell

Brisket maybe? Did you see a lot of blood where you jumped him from?

It’s obviously not heart and doubt it’s lungs if he only went 30 feet and was still alive.

Hate to hear that man, and I hope you find him.

Big_Country - do you drive a white 1500 truck (not a farmer's truck)? I passed on spur 70 today around 10:30/10:45 and saw one pulling into the field next to a tree line right around your area. Might have been you?

My uncle used to have a lease in woodlawn not far from you.

He isn’t. The other side crosses a road that goes to the other pipeline. We went ride down there and saw where he came out and into the other patch of woods.

Yes. About the same amount as in the picture. Followed good blood to the canal.

I’m actually in an old pewter cab and a half. My truck is in the shop so I’m borrowing the step pawinlaw’s truck. I’m sure my grandpa knows your uncle, he knows everybody and some how finds a relation down the line

I'm thinking kidney/liver hit. Probably a little back but not way back. Usually will die within 200 yds if not jumped.

Hit one like that last year and he wound up going 800 yards or so, but he was dead the next morning.

FWIW, if you fellas hit one and think it may be a bit back and/or see blood like in the pic then back out and give him 3-4 hours to be safe. He'll be dead within 200 yds or so and no chasing through the night.

Mike Wag. He was the sherriff of assumption parish for years. I spoke to him today about calling the woodlawn guys to see if they had an opening for me.
I'm not but 20 min from you.
Hope you find the deer.
