Huge issue with any homecenter trimmer is they get banged around a lot which knocks carbs out of adjustment.
I repaired and sold Sthil, echo, husqvarna, redmax, and Mtd line of trimmers. 1 our of 10 would need a small carb adjustment not matter what brand just due to being banged around in shipping.
8 out of 10 repairs that came back were fuel related.
- incorrect mixing of fuel such as putting 2-1/2 gallon bottle mixture of oil in 1 gallon, fuel sitting in carb, or I actually had few people run 2 -strikes straight fuel.
2 out of 10 nothing was wrong customer did not prime the unit correctly. They ended up flooding the unit.
I actually had a few come in with gatoraide in the fuel tank which came from commercial clients.
Now the more expensive units have carbs that can tolerate bad fuel longer.
Less expensive units that you see in homecenters I would definitely use true fuel or a premixed fuel.

I have this model. Now on my 4th growing season. Still goes bang. I also use an Poulan edger attachment to get those nice straight edges (OCD).
