It’s weird. I don’t have ANY but my buddy 5 miles north is loaded up.

I’m waiting on them and the Purple Martins to swoop into north central Alabama. I had only sparrows nesting in my Martin cage last year since no Martins appeared to nest. My brother in St. james Parish has a house full already. They came in 2 weeks ago.

I had my first one two weeks ago and I've seen maybe 5-6 since, including one chasing another. It's been 5 days since the last one. Last spring had a similar pattern here. They seem to be anxious to move further north to breed.

No shortage of purple martins, though. I see 2-3 pretty much daily. And northern parulas everywhere, and chuck-will's widows singing before every dawn.
