Hummingbird 900 series interference problems

We recently home installed a Hummingbird 900 series depth finder with side scanning and down imagery. Everything works great, however, we mounted on the front of the boat and we have the transducer on the trolling motor. Every time we push down on the foot pedal to activate the trolling motor, we get interference with the Hummingbird. We have a protector on the unit so that there isn't supposed to be interference with the transducer, but it doesn't seem to work. When were riding along it with the trolling motor in the water, it works fine, but when we use the trolling the screen turns to a white and the signal is messed up. Any help on this??

I'd say call Hummingbird or the mfr of your trolling motor.

Use your feels. No need for all those big electronics. Then again I fish the marsh.

I fish the collegiate circuit so I fish some areas that electronics are key to catching fish when you can't locate them yourself on foreign waters.

What is your sensitivity setting, Color setting, Pings per second, surface clutter, etc?
You should be at 50% - 75% sensitivity, 75% ping speed, surface clutter - low or medium unless you are fishing 50+ feet deep with a drop shot.
I have an 897hd and had to bring the sensitivity down to resolve the issue you have mentioned. I fish deep, clear highland reservoirs and at the settings mentioned above, I can watch a 4" finesse worm and 3/8 oz. drop shot weight move in 40' of water.

is the sonar powered by the same wire running the trolling mtr?...
is the power wire for the sonar running along side of the trolling mtr wire?...
if so not good...
many times you can use electrical tape wrapped on the lower unit before you attach the transducer to help with the interference...

Had the same issue with mine. Even took it back to Bass Cat for them to look at it. They ended up running a ground to the skeg of the trolling motor. It still didn't get rid of all the interference. Make sure your software is up to date also. Good luck.
