We used to have these guys come out and do it quite a bit down at our place but the first time we saw a dog on the heels of a nice buck we stopped. Any chance we get invited to do it on someone else's place down there we go, it is definitely a kick in the arse

They make Kevlar for protection under the throat? I've seen a dog's intestines pop out of the stomach wall. It was fine...had to be clean stapled and such. Getting hit in the arteries is what I'm talking about.

yes they make vest that run from the jaw and ears down to the hind quarters

Still wouldn't have saved the ones that I've seen killed. Doesn't protect the entire carotid artery.

the new cut vests are definately a step in the right direction as far as protecting the catch dogs. The guys I've been hunting with just got a new vest for their Pit "Fifi". It's flourescent pink and you can see her for hundreds of yards in the timber!!!
