I know on the weekends up here, the local processors will usually have them stacked up. One of the main ones usually has their coolers full Thanksgiving weekend. They have to shut down for a day or two and just cut and wrap to make more room. It is unreal at the meat they process each year.

The place I use in Haughton has done over 700 this year

It's seems like once guys get to about 50 deer some of the thrill is gone from the posts. Not a negative just facts that after you shoot that many, a doe probably just can't be that much of an excitement.

Some of that is true. I still get excited to shoot a doe, love the meat. But not like I do a buck.

I'm almost 48 and been deer hunting since I was a very little boy. Spent a lot of years racking them up in Texas. Have hunted LA forever. I honestly have no clue how many I've shot. I say it's a hundred because that's probably close if you round up but it's probably less. I've always been a meat hunter. Have never mounted a whitetail but I do have some cool skulls I did.

As for how excited I get over a kill these days, it's not like the early days as a kid. It's more businesslike now. I'm as happy with a doe as a decent buck. Neither one is going to get me too freaked out unless there's some kind of extenuating circumstances. Not gonna say a big ole bruiser stepping out doesn't get the blood going though. Nothing like it.
