Just got back from 4 days straight in St Francisville area,no rutting and very little buck sign. Usually starts up around Christmas for us.

In area 4, I have a box stand on the west end of the Eagles Nest high fence. Not in the fence but on the outside on that bayou. I am waiting on one of those exotic deer or maybe one of those zebras to get out of that fence.

Last year I killed one around the first of december and he was running the heck out of a doe. So I am thinking that it should start here real soon.

I hunted from Thursday to Saturday afternoon in Montpelier, only saw two deer all weekend..walked up on two does setting up my camera. Hopefully this weather this week stirs them up a little.

Same. Seeing lots of deer but the bucks hide in the swamps until January.

Yeah I had heard that the kangaroo was out and that some of the farmers have seen it. If he comes by me I am going to shoot the Louisiana State Record Kangaroo.

Where are you hunting over there? My box stand can be seen from the road. I know someone is about 3/4 of a mile north of me on the same bayou. That you? Seen any big ones?

I farm on the south end and east side of the fence. I hunt to the southeast of of you. Closer to the river. Cross the concrete bridge headed north, turn in at the grain bins. Got a stand where coffee bayou dumps into bouef, edge of a reserve overlooking one of our wheat fields. Saw nothing this afternoon. Got some nice ones on camera just haven't shown up yet in the daylight. Won't be long until they start moving chasing the does. I killed a nice 9 pt. last year on nov. 30.....didn't have the first picture of him. He just "showed" up one evening! That's what happens in the rut!

Yeah I pass that on the way to my stand. Looks like a good place to be. Good luck this season. I will be over there tomorrow after work.
