Has anyone ever refinished a gun stock?

Thinking about doing this after duck season. Strip down the stock and forend and do something different with it. I just don't know what.

Wood stock? I have refinished a wood pistol grip with a kit from Birchwood Casey.

Yeah wood. I really want a waterfowl camo pattern like Max-4 but don't want to wrap my gun because I feel like it just wouldn't come out very nice.

Unfortunately I'm no help here. My experience was sanding, staining, and sealing.

Have done it. Sanded off previous finish. Rubbed tung oil on. Looked terrible. Rubbed more tung oil on. Repeat. Eventually it looks great! Easy to repair too.
