I’m pretty new to inshore fishing...my father in law bought a boat and the few times we’ve gone it’s been crazy windy (to me at least) Unless a front comes through the wind is typically 15-20 mph coming in from the gulf. Do the wind patterns change during seasons or will just have to get used to it?

We’d be fishing chocolate bay and Galveston area.

It's always windy during the Spring (March-May)... there are days it lays down but never seems to happen on a weekend.

It usually starts to lay down more consistently around June.

Been bad for March. I'm hoping April will be better. Wind will die down and sunny weather when you're at work. On your day off the weather will be shite. Ive been in this pattern for 3 months now.

^^^^this.

March and April are basically kite season. Mid-May is when the winds start to calm down a bit. Don’t let the shitty conditions keep you from going out, though. I have learned a lot from days that I had to fish different spots because of the wind.

Most of the time it’s me learning where not to go back

March and April are always known as start of fishing months but you can typically only fish half the days offshore as you end on with small craft warnings probably one day in four. It gets better, in July and August you will be sweating your arse off wishing for a breeze.

Wind doesn’t matter much for fishing except as it interacts with tide movement.

Fish don’t give a shite how bad it’s blowing. Loaded boat last week in two hours with 18” inch and up trout in Biloxi bay and wind was 15-20 knots whole damn time. And we spend more time screwing with damn line and cutting and redoing rigs then fishing.

It will screw up your day in a second. My favorite is when you have a great moving tide and along comes big wind in the opposite direction
