We had one growing up. Named him Flash. Now, we lived on a large piece of property with other large pieces of property surrounding us. Once that dog got outside, it just ran and never stopped. You'd look out at our pasture behind the house, and see him come tearing arse through, nose to the ground, every 30 minutes or so. All day long. Dog basically ran itself to death.
My dad's employees gave him a "Flash Costume Kit" one time that was a box of bones.
I also worked at Sierra Trading Post for years, and they breed GSPs for horseback field trials. Most of those dogs spent their days inside the corporate offices (but also got worked daily), and they were extremely well behaved and affectionate.

I have GSP. Never retrieved worth a damn but he has a helluva nose. Sometimes I don't think he can hear or see. As others have mentioned they have next level gear. I used to walk to the dog park with a 6pack of beer. I would sit there for 3+ hours while people would come and go and their dogs would chase mine and tire out He isn't a great swimmer but he'll do it till he damn near drowns. I watched him chase a swimming duck in a pond for a good 15 minutes. He finally swam back to shore. Caught a little breather and then started trying to swim after it again.
Mine wants to be outside in 1000 degree heat. He is fine in the cold too but doesn't take to it as well especially cold water. That fricker loves snow tho.

I never updated this, but I picked up a male Drahthaar, luckily finding somebody with a litter on the ground.
He’s a menace to my poor 7 year old lab, the lab’s Nylabone, his puppy bumper, and small furry animals thus far (11.5 weeks).
Incredible level of prey drive and desire to please.
I’ve gone way far into the Drahthaar rabbit hole and love it so far.

Lucky, it is the next hunting dog I want. Unfortunately don't know when that will be.

i would’ve gotten a DD instead of a pudelpointer if i lived in the country.
the next dog for me will be a slovakian wire haired pointer.
