Golden retriever training

Got a golden recently that is a year and a half old. Previous owner didn't work with her much and she isn't great at retrieving. What's the best way to get her interested, retrieving, and releasing?

Get in a long hall close the doors. Throw a toy down the hall and when she comes back take it from her immediately and give her a treat.
