Don't know why but I got the idea, at the last minute, to fish my usual marshes yesterday. I know, I know, severe clear sky, etc, etc. Maybe it was the new moon and the monster tides that confused me. The shrimp run is pretty much over and I couldn't find a redfish anywhere. I did hook a four and a half foot gar which I cut loose as soon as I identified it. Brought home enough to feed the family and put some in the ice box, but things are slowing.

If you see a giant gar with a yellow cork in its mouth, you can have it.

The bite isn't slowing down. Best bite of the year. Just need the right conditions. I was going today, but decided to wait until tomorrow to let another day post front pass.

Agreed, some of my best fishing is during duck season, in the marsh. Tons of nice sized grilling redfish in the duck ponds and specks on hard bottom and oyster reefs.
