We’ve used Katadyn bottles in our overseas travels, even put the local bottled water through them in some places, and also several of the Sawyer models in some overseas humanitarian water projects. Both have been great.

As you mentioned, in a worse case scenario, boiling works but it takes time and attention while boiling, plus it requires a fuel source. Depending on where someone lives or where they will go in a SHTF, boiling water is certainly an option.

The last ice storm we had here we just stocked up on canned goods. White cans, blue cans, silver cans.

We did aight.

I have a young family so I prep to take care of them. I am not abandoning my largest asset (my house) unless we physically can’t live there. We are hunkering down and I need to be able to feed my family, cure them of ailments and be able to triage them if injured .
