Anyone on the OB have any experience with fishing guides in the Smoky Mountain area? Taking the family there this Mardi Gras and want to take my boys on a fishing trip. It's hard picking one based off of Google results. TIA

Fly fishing?

They have a few guides at Little River Outfitters that are pretty decent in Townsend.

If you got the time, I recommend getting getting a float trip down the Watauga up near Johnson City.

Who are you looking at?

Personally, I would like to go fly fishing but I'm not sure how my boys would do. One is 9 and the other one is almost 11. A float trip would probably be better for them. I haven't really looked at anyone.

Trout fishing is way overrated. Bored me to death. Caught 3 trout in two days. All about 10-12 inches. I went in the woods and found a little run off pond and caught some bream and mud cats.

Don't really know any guides without fly gear, but bass fishing Douglas and Cherokee is pretty world class. Good luck.

It's a challenge, especially up there. Those trout are easy to spook in the GSMNP.

If you want guaranteed fish, take them to English Mountain Trout Farm

I might do that... I remember doing this as a kid. Thanks for the reminder!

Check to make sure he is open in the winter. I think he closes in winter.

this is actually a damn good idea...I did it when I was young and still remember it as an adult. I doubt any wild fishing trip will instill that kind of memory in your boys...

I went as a child as well and still go back to this day. One of my favorite things to do around Gatlinburg. The owner is incredibly gracious and very nice guy. Same with his wife. OP, if you go, please ask the owner how his sons Football tryout went with the Titans
