Is that specific to tuna?
No. I don’t wash fish. Keep the fish clean when you clean them. No point in washing fish juice off because the inside of the meat has fish juice in it.

Do not put water on tuna. It will ruin your fillets vacuum pack what you can eat and give the rest away. It will be good for around 3 months try and eat it as fast as you can as it just is not a fish that freezes well unlike white meat fish(snapper, mahi, grouper etc.)

Prepare for the down votes. Fish is to be hoarded and enjoyed with the great taste of freezer burn. Didn’t you know?

Glad this got bumped. I did a very light rinse and patted dry before I vacuum sealed the tuna. I had to. Those deck hand baws could fly through the cleaning process like Samurai warriors, but they did not give a damn about how clean anything was. I couldn't freeze the meat looking at chunks of coagulated blood and other debris all over it. Slight squirt with the sink squirter deal and patted dry. Took some out the freezer last night and seared it. If there was a difference in quality from when it was fresh it was very slight.
Another observation is the sinewy portion down towed the tail is not worth keeping. It will go to the cat next time.

You have to use a ton of rolls of paper towels to get clean. And trust me I know Cypress cove cleaning table literally an hour half worth power washing and tables would be decent(Looks like fish tank algae now. Venice at times your filleting fish with feet in water amongst dead floating fish heads disgusting and then have to go dump your fish to boot....They both definitely could use some fish cleaning table maintenance.
