Only once and we went all the way to the Chandeleur Islands. Caught one speck. Drank lots of beer. We were staying at a friends parent's house who lived in Gulfport. They had a shrimp boil just starting when we got back. Was a pretty decent day.

MS established a lot of artificial reefs with the debris from Katrina and some other projects. Specks are very hit or miss but there’s usually some drum, reds, and founder around. I’m on my phone but mdwf has a map and the coords for all reefs on their website.

Fishing from the beach or wadefishing on Ship or Horn Island would be great way to spend the day

Get away from the mouth of Back Bay. The water is super dirty after all the rain over the weekend. Trout ought to be showing up on the front beach reefs. I usually fish the west side of the coast, but hit those reefs and keep moving.

I did it for years, we would cross the sound and fish the Louisiana marsh.
