anyone who has deer hunted any length of time knows that some deer never take a step after being shot, some have a little to a lot of blood at the spot they were shot and some run different distances after being shot with some bleeding along the way and some not.Look for any deer you shoot at.2 weeks ago had a buddy shoot and he told me he missed, but he never looked for blood or the deer. We went and looked for blood where the deer was shot and found none.he showed me about where the deer exited the pipeline into the woods and I found the deer about 15 yards in the woods, at night after looking 5 minutes.

I always go straight to the last spot I saw the deer. If I don't find anything after searching that point forward I'll circle back and check the spot where I shot at the deer to see if there's hair on the ground. There's also indicators based on how the deer reacts, but that's far from consistent. Also, trying to find blood in pine trees can be a pain in the arse, so I look for indications on browse. There's definitely no sure fire pattern to go by.

Friend took several clients to an Alabama lodge to deer hunt. One sport had little experience. Thy heard multiple shots from him that evening. When they came back to get him, he told them about the deer he missed. They asked, “are you sure you missed?” He answered, “yes, every time I shot, they ran off”. They ended up finding three or four deer that he had killed.

90% of the deer I have shot there has been blood at impact. However, the other 10% I found blood within 60 yds of impact.
