Imo one of the biggest issues on public wmas is the use of surface drives. If you could give the birds some areas to rest and make it paddle only or walk in only, like big areas you would see more birds. Anybody that has a surface drive can get dang near anywhere and constantly scare birds and run them Day in and day out. With some kind of no motor area Lazy/out of shape hacks won't walk 500 yards through the marsh packing in gear in a pirogue. Therefore eliminating alot of pressure on ducks most arent willing to put that kind of work in. But we will never see that as State won't do that for wmas. Refuges at least have rest days to give birds a break.

I've done walk ins and pirogue hunts on nwr's and WMAs a ton. A lot of the ones near me you need a boat to even get to a decent spot. But I really want one for the rivers.
ETA: you need one to even get to a spot where you can walk or paddle in.
