crabbing in lake pontchartrain

is crabbing something done year round or only during certain months? i would like to roam the shallow shoreline along bayou lacombe area.

Perfect area is the last 200-300 yards of Bayou Lacombe before it opens up into the lake. Constantly see people working crab traps in that area.

Not sure about when the good times to actually do the crabbing would be though.

They're not really in the shallows right now since it's winter but yea you can load up on crabs all along the north shoreline of the lake, either direction from mouth of Bayou Lacombe; especially summer and early fall.

Wow. This brought back a lot of memories for me. My Dad used to take us there (Bayou Lacombe) all the time when we were kids -- we'd fill a couple of washtubs every time.

I put my canoe in at the end of lake road normally. saw some guys in october loading a boat full of crabs. i did not know if there was a specific time to do this?
