First time I've seen a squirrel gutted before it was skinned. Cuddos to you for having kids wanting to do that and the know how at that age.

Yeah, a new one on me too. That's just something they came up with and the way they prefer.

The boy likes tanning the hides, so he makes the cuts in the hide (prior to skinning) in a manner that the finished product lays flat. He seems to think skinning a gutted carcass is easier. Whatever he does, it seems to work.
