Simms is a brand marketed to fly fishermen. Fly Fishing takes work, practice, and patience so not frat.

I have a lot of magellan, all are 2xl but none of them fit the same, rin large and small

The Columbias were mostly gifts and fit good. Aftco makes a nice one too. Shimano makes shirts now too that cost more than the Columbias.

I usually wear the long sleeves too, I've cut off was too many skin cancers at work.

I have a few of each, no Simms though. I like the UA best, Columbia, then Magellan. They seem lighter/ cooler in that order IMO.
Edit: for shorts
Check out the "hybrid" shorts, I know UA, and other brands like Hurley, Billabong, etc are making them. Mostly seem them in surf shops around the coast. Picked up a pair in FL specifically for fishing.

Yea...no other brand of fishing shorts fits me as well or breaths like theirs. I know people like the aftco shorts but they fit weird, I look retarded in them.

Exofficio is great if you can find it on sale. It's a little pricy and I usually just go Columbia, but you can sometimes find them on DoD sites or Amazon on sale.

FWIW Magellan has the $16 dollar shirts but they also have a much nicer quality $25 shirt. Lighter and more breathable.

Worldwide Sportsman shirts from BassPro. Haven't failed me yet.

Bought a Magellan for my son a few years ago and the dye ended up staining his skin blue for a couple days. (Had been washed already... this happened on about the 3rd wear)
So no more Magellan shirts for me.

Patagonia Island Hopper or Sol Patrol-for the Cali tree huggers.

Sister in law gave me one of those Columbia super light sun protections shirts, and it is really fab. I highly recommend them. very cooling on a hot day.

Colombia Bahama II long sleeve FTW.
light, super breathable, shade protection, and the sleeve roll up is easy. Pockets can fit lots and are not bulky

I love the Columbia skiff guide shirts for about $25.They make another style called freeze or something that is not nearly as comfortable although it is lighter.
