What are you thoughts on places, time of year, baits, and techniques?

I usually set a line to soak at 40-60' while doing other fishing and have caught Cobia on just about everything. Small live fish do work best tho, esp very small Snapper. My largest using this method is 60lbs.

I keep a smaller casting pole rigged with a 3 oz Chartreuse Feather Jig readily available for Cobia that swim up to the boat. Tipped with a Squid is very productive. Stop at Bouys and very small rigs to cast and jig. Cobia love small structure for some reason. I have caught em up to 50lbs doing this with much success.

They dont put up much of a fight until they get to the boat, then it's on like someone slapped a racehorse on the arse.

Had one around 30lbs break off at the surface and circle the boat 3-4 times. Threw everything I had at him and couldn't get hooked back up. They are fickle.
