Same here man. The only time I use spinning setups is when I run far outside - Black Bay, Eloi, etc. - fishing corks. 95% of my salt fishing is done around Lake P. I also frequent the Castaway/All Star sales at Academy for my rods haha. I like nice reels but I've never been able to bring myself to drop serious money on rods.
To bring this back on topic, I do think you'll be really happy with that Ascend. I used to fish out of a borrowed older one before I bought my own yak and I liked it a lot. With all the stuff you got lined up your rig is gonna be sick.
. edit: I don't know the truth of this and I can't find anything on google, but an in-the-know friend of mine who normally is pretty reliable told me that Shimano is planning to revert back to the old Curados before the price increase. Still don't know why they did that. My favorite reels ever made.

When I went to bass pro I thought they'd have all colors but they only had the blue in stock. Impatient arse me had to buy one right then and there. Now the blue has grown on me and I like it a lot. I'm just ready to hit some saltwater but don't want to go alone.

I like the blue. For some reason I want the tan more 
. If I call tomorrow and the wait for the tan is more than an extra week or 2 I'm just gonna order the blue ship to store. I'm ready to get this thing and get it rigged up and use it some between my next couple tests

I did, but I'm on a tight budget. For that price I see used jackson cudas going about that every now and then so I'd probably have picked up one of those. I just basically wanted the cheapest yak I could stand on, this was it.

I do some but I've got access to a 11' lowe flat with a long tail, soon to a 16' mud boat with surface drive, and a flat bottomed pirogue. Hell if the first 2 can't get me close enough to where I need to be to use waders then I'm doing it wrong

I have a 1442 with a Copperhead and two rogues too. My color choice was just based on "well what if" haha. Chances of me ever using my kayak for duck hunting are slim to zero.
I looked pretty hard at this color too. It's pretty sweet.
Also, just googled the Ascend in blue. It's pretty sweet too.

The new model is basically a slightly smaller fs128t, same hull design, but no swivel seat or anchor trolley and less freeboard.
