I saw my first bachelor group of deer out in the pasture as I drove on the property yesterday. Promising group of bucks in velvet! Bow season can not get here soon enough!

I went down to the ranch to paint deer blinds and thought about sitting in a blind but damn it hot as shite in South Texas right now. Not to mention fawns haven’t even dropped yet and the antler growth isn’t that great yet.

We moved to the farm in Giles County, TN last September. I will try my first velvet hunt in August here. It will be easier due to living on the property. I did not get a good look at the bucks cause I was driving and meeting a truck as I was passing them. I will try get a photo of the group to share.

Good luck on the velvet hunt and keep us updated.

There was a group of turkeys across the road when I leaving for church. I stepped back in the porch and grabbed my binoculars. Looked for poults in the group but they were all long beards. A storm is brewing with thunder after church. After each thunderclap the Tom’s are gobbling!

I was leaving for work this morning. Drizzling rain from the storm. As soon as I past the property corner there was a group of does in the middle of the road. I slowed down and off to the left in the pasture were a dozen or more deer. Looked closer and there was one tall and wide buck! Hope he shows up tomorrow about 300 yards east from where he was standing!
