Anyone here ever hunted or have info on Canemount WMA by Port Gibson, MS?

I have just learned about this place and sounds like it has great potential for a high number of big deer. But paying $300 in Septemebr for the lottery to hunt in December seems like a big gamble. Anybody know anything about this place?

I just looked it up, had never heard of it but looks awesome. Points that stuck out to me...
Must be a resident MS license hunter
Don't have to pay the 300 up front, just have a set time to pay after being drawn or they re-draw
Includes the entire weekend and you get your own specified block with only 12 hunters on 3000+ acres
You'd be stupid not to at least throw your name in the hat

Right, it doesn't cost to enter lottery but if you get picked, $300 is due within a few days. With the lottery in September I was concerned about the gamble of paying $300 in September and hoping the weather for one weekend in December will be cooperative.

I don't know man, I've spend 300 bucks on dumber shite, and it would have to be pretty bad weather to keep me out of the woods for three solid days. If I had a MS resident license I would sign up.

The land has a lot of steep and deep gullies. If you kill one and he goes to the bottom of a deep revine, you will find out who your real friends are. Seriously, take a long rope.

I knew Canemount very well before it became a WMA. What zone you get drawn for does make a difference but for $300, even the worst zone is a bargain.

I have not hunted that WMA specifically, but I can tell you that the deer hunting around Port Gibson in general is unbelievable...
