Anyone have any experience with Aimpoint laser sights?

I read an article in this month's Guns & Ammo where a guy bought a Ruger 10X22 and opted for a low end Aimpoint laser sight for plinking and small game. Any thoughts on this other than the sight is more expensive than the rifle?

On something like a .22 you could prob get away with a little lower end red dot. Not much recoil to worry about messing up your zero. Some wont agree but I owuldn't put an Aimpoint on a .22.

I'm interested in your opinion on this. Why wouldn't you?

Because one of the biggest problems with red dots holding zero is recoil. A .22 doesnt have a whole lot. I'm not saying get the $25 China knockoff, but you probably dont need a $400-$500 red dot on a 10/22. Just my opinion.

I've always heard if you're going to get a really good rifle setup you need to spend more on the scope than the rifle.

However on this one I also wouldn't go with the Aimpoint. Not for a plinking rifle anyway, especially a .22.
