Went on Sunday to Pelican Point and caught one bull and a few small rat reds. I bet the rain will have the lake a bit stirred up. I am waiting to hear from my cousin who lives down there what the water looks like.
Waltrip has been posting pictures to Instagram of some solid trout. It looks like it was on the east side of the lake so that’s not really yak accessible.

If you go down past Hackberry, you can put in at the Sabine Refuge boat launch (Big Gras Marais) and it’s a short paddle down to West Cove. Check it out on Google Earth.

Yeah, that’s how I access the West Cove. I still haven’t found a place to fish the weirs or any of the east side of the lake. I was hoping Grosse Savanne would let me use their boat launch but that was a no-go

Been working there the past few weeks. Foggy as hell in the mornings.

Yeah I got confused. I saw that you said the East side of the lake.
There’s another little spot on the east side of the lake that you can put in. I see people parked there somewhat frequently. When you’re on 384 and pass the pontoon bridge going south you come to a stop sign. When you turn left at that stop sign it’s a mile or two down the road on the right side. Pretty hard to miss. When you see it, you think ”that’s would be a great place to put a yak in the water”.

That’s where I put in on Sunday. It’s super convenient but super trashy. Someone had decided not only to dump a dozen or so red fish carcasses right NEXT to the launch. Not in the water, on the goddamn bank.
