No hate, if you're gonna be pulling a heavy load regularly they are the way to go, but if you're just gonna pull a medium weight or less load every now and then the up front costs out weigh the benifits mainly because the modern gas engines will last almost as long as the diesel and gas is cheaper than diesel these days.

I have a 2010 2500HD Z71 4x4 with the 6.0, and it does more than I'll probably ever need. So far the only thing I've had to do was change the oil and change/rotate my tires. I only have 60k miles on it, but I plan on keeping it until it dies.
