2008 prodrive 27hp engine help

I have the above engine with about 150 hours. Replaced the carb. It starts first try with choke closed but will only run at wide open. With the choke open, it will run but only wide open then die.

Not sure the issue. Assumed it was a bad carb so I changed it. But the the issue is the same.

Could it be the fuel pump? Not enough vacuum at idle but enough wide open.

I've also adjusted the throttle screw to wide open while the throttle is at idle. Then backed the screw out until died. So throttle at idle, rpm 4000c backed screw out, died at 1400.
