I'm an avid fisherman and co-own a boat that stays in Venice. Even though it's an 8 hour drive from my house in Houston, the quality of the fishing makes it worth it! There are tons of great fishing guides and marinas in South Louisiana and they depend on people fishing to make a living. Even if they do get reimbursed for their losses, that's probably not going to happen for a while..so they need money to stay afloat!

I just booked a week at a rent house in Grand Isle and will be looking to fish every day that I'm there...there are rent houses still available and personally I think the Mississippi River, south winds, and this "super-dome" are going to keep the oil away from Barataria and the West Delta and fishing will be outstanding as usual.

I'm headed to Fourchon tomorrow and plan of supporting the hell out of the local economy. I already cleaned out the outside fridge for the 50lbs of shrimp i'll probably buy after a few suds.
