It's already the largest single oil disaster in the history of the world, beating the Valdez already and ITS STILL PUMPING for what looks like weeks.
THe impact won't be immediated, but the oil sinks, it kills the plankton/algea that the smallest predators eat. When that dies, teh food chain is fricked from there up. And that is under the woter, on top of the water the economic impact to all of us that enjoy seafood and beaches is huge. THen the impact on our barrier islands and grasses that help keep erosion in check will erode themselves with no grass root structure.
And by the way, it IS getting worse! What a dumb statement you made here.
