Are there any skimmers working right now?
I suppose they dont really pick up that much but if they pick up any that is good is it not?

The only really effective at sea skimmers are not allowed to operate because EPA won't let them discharge the separated seawater overboard due to a small amount of oil (yes, a tiny amount of the same oil they just skimmed and almost entirely removed).

Federal regulations have hamstrung this entire response (COE, EPA)

If this is true then this is one thing Jindal should be screaming about~! He should make this front page news.

Are we certain this is true, because I have been wondering why I havent seen effective skimmers and not this "circle it up and soak it up" crap.

I have 2 skimmers coming in from Cali that should hit the water sometimes next week. BP wanted them here last week. From what I understand, there are skimmers just sitting doing nothing right now. Hell, they're getting paid so what the hell

Had a friend in Houston that sent this link. WJBO was covering this article this morning on their morning show.

This is truly absurd, criminal, insane!
Mr President Ill tell you whose aZZ to kick...yours!

I read a Moblie paper article and it sounded like they suck up water and oil and transport this mixture to shore to process. Is this true?

That is what they are having to do now, or use absorbent booms to sop it up and that is a very slow process.

I bumped this because it is a crying shame that we are not using these ships. Ironically, the material skimmed comes to shore-based separation facilities, which are not 100% efficient, meaning they discharge oil into inland waters instead of these ships discharging a similar amount off-shore basically at near ground zero.

SC was right-this is criminally insane, but another example of Federal rules that agencies and the administration will not bend, no matter how inane...

Can you link a report that substantiates that? I hope you are correct.
