Would you donate to a LA Commercial Fishermans Preservation Fund?

I emailed the Governors office with this idea.
The funds created for this disaster so that average citizens and business could donate. These folks need money now and should not have to wait on Lawsuits and settlements.

BP should have to reimburse the state for the total amount of the fund. This might help with La's budget shortfalls. (If we can get them (BP) to agree with it or not.

we shouldn't use a company and an oil spill to fix our state budget

why would BP pay the state back for funds from private citizens? Some Donors might not be from Louisiana and only want to help the fishermen, not the state in general

One for locals
One for everybody else

Only the one for locals to be reimbursed by BP

Exxon paid those fishermen in Alaska. I believe they actually bought alot of their businesses and then gave them all jobs to help with the clean up.
No I wouldn't donate to their fund. Would they donate to mine if my business was ruined due to something unforseeable.

It hasn't been a full two weeks since the initial accident. It has been one week since the oil spill has affected them. To say they are hurting now is a bit premature.

The fishermen are hurting because they know what the future is bringing. They aren't hurting financially after one week.

You are only partially correct.

It is only one week. But if you fish a lot you would know they make most of their money starting with this lost week through the summer. Besides its not just going to be a couple of weeks.
