But there may be legal reasons to care. Eventually, BP will be subject to the federal Oil Pollution Act, which will hold them responsible for damages to people as well as to the environment.
Bp has already committed to exceeding the limits of the Oil Pollution Act's maximum.

Well, that plus class action - I don't understand why cost would be a worry for them. They have $6.85 cash on their books - what they don't spend in cleanup they will definately lose in litigatoin.

This isn't meant as an attack, just a question. Was he one of the guys using a single phase analysis?

Nothing to see hear, just listen to those posters who work for the oil companies tell you all you need to know. It's the media screwing up. A company on the hook for untold millions in damage would never screw up, much less underestimate the scale of their mess.

That's so dumb, it made me agree with otto.

Nice ad hominem boy. Attack the messenger instead of the message.

You did not address in any way how BP has been acting. Nor did you address how BP might have motivations to not be upfront about factors such as the rate of the flow, for one example, or let others have access to that information, for another. Because you and BP know better than the rest of us that we don't need to know that. Ohhhhhh, Oil business is tough and complicated. I'll just let the same dumbasses that screwed this up convince me that they are now, definitely, no kidding around on top of this and got it on lock down. Whatever dude.
