Are they even looking for it? Can it ever be salvaged?

Yes they know where it is. I want to say it's a few hundred yards from subsea stack? I would think it's too big to be salvaged and too deep.

It may be difficult to assess the damages that occured because of the fire. i'd say its gone. But it's up to the insurance company to deteremine.
