That's not what I got out of it. I was being sarcastic. In other words, I meant the opposite of what I said. I.e., you know nothing about him or his life.

Or any number of blue collar working class jobs that don't offer benefits. Not every job offers a severance package, and do you have any idea what unemployment payments are? It's no more than a couple hundred dollars a week max, depending on state. Could you pay bills with that? The average American lives paycheck to paycheck. It doesnt take much time off of work to be hurting bad.

You must have never had a family member with serious illness and in the hospital for an extended stay. At some point insurance tells you to go frick yourself and your medical expenses. Insurance isn't some unlimited fund. Not to mention potential time taken away from work to actually care for the family member.

This is where my dad's advice always helps you out. When somebody is doing shite like that just politely and calmly say "ok, thank you, have a nice day." And don't say anything else. Just let em be.
