Nuclear power is the way to go. Its clean, its safe and it generates lots and lots of clean, affordable electricity, 24-7, month after month, year after year.
I have nothing against nuclear, but I do find it interesting how people have this perception of nuclear as being a cheap source of power. In practice, it’s one of the most expensive sources we have today.
The capital costs of nuclear are enormous compared to other (traditional) generation sources. Nuclear really isn’t competitive at all with combined cycle gas, and it’s a huge part of why nobody is pushing to build new nuclear plants.
ETA: I should say “a huge part of why nobody is pushing to build new utility-scale nuclear plants.” There is some ongoing R&D around different reactor technologies, so folks may be building pilot plants.

99% of the people on here have no clue what they're talking. They see shite on memes on facebook and assume they're true.

It's picking up a lot. I've usually had one new nuke project in some form of diligence for the past few years. Now that's up to 5 current projects. Maybe one will finally make it, they usually die in development litigation.
