Very much speculating here but I'd imagine maybe 20% of what they actually film is televised. They follow the officer all day and 90% of their filming is "routine" police work without any excitement.
They likely requested the footage from something that wasn't aired and were denied.
It would be interesting to find out how many departments Live PD approaches and how many say no. Seems like some departments are hesitant to have that kind of following for prosecution purposes.
