I had gout around 4 years ago- remember limping around the office and my right ankle swelled up like a balloon! I went to ER & was admitted. My doctor put me on Allopurinol ; I was suppose to clean up my eating habits. Well, I still eat whatever I want and luckily never had another gout episode!
