re: Why do british people have bad teeth?

I've seen many British dental patients and I think the perception that they have "bad teeth" is a very poor choice of words for describing it. What does bad teeth mean? Some think it means that there is rampant caries. Some think it has to do with crowding. I haven't seen that they have more cavities than the average American. Many do have anterior crowding though and I think it's more common then we have in America, though I think it's amplified by Americans propensity to get braces for their kids. When you look at an Englishmans face compared to an Americans, I think on average the British guy is more likely to have a more pronounced cheekbone which would tend to have a narrower dental arch and therefore more crowding. But I've never heard of a study to confirm that.
