Just don’t talk to them. Can have a respectful greeting with them and be compliant on giving them ID for a lawful stop and after that just be quiet. frick em

Son, we have your DNA at the scene, and your buddy down the hall is spilling his guts and saying you were the triggerman. You may as well go ahead and confess so you have a chance to avoid the death penalty.
Coercions arent allowed

How are you going to stop people from lying? Are you talking about in general or about something specific?
Police are not the only people on the job who lies. People lie to get you to buy shite. This is an odd question. I assume most people lie until what they say is verified.

What is the thinking behind allowing police to lie?
A friend of mine's younger brother was at a bar one night. He had a prescription for Adderall. I think he gave one to someone at the bar or something. There was an undercover in there. This is a small town and from time to time an undercover comes around. Evidently they are sent to smaller towns from bigger departments for experience.
I didn't know that was a thing until this happened, but the woman (who was undercover) started talking to him. He was not selling Adderall, he had a prescription and gave one to a friend and somehow the undercover overheard, saw him give it to his friend or something, but they talk for awhile and she mentioned wanting Adderall. My friend's brother tells her he just got his prescription filled and that he could give her one but that was all he could spare. He tells her to hold on, it was in his car and that he had to go get it. She tells him she needed some fresh air and that she would come with him.
He opens his car door and she ask if she could get in, he unlocks the door she gets in. He said she was kind of hot and she seemed to be flirting. He takes out an Adderall and when he goes to hand it to her she ask him how much. He told her nothing, she could have it. She went on about how she wasn't going to allow him to give it to her for free. He said since she was making a big deal out of it he just was like "okay whatever". She hands him the money (it was like $8), he gives her the Adderall. Bam. He was under arrest.
She made an arrest as an undercover. His uncle, who is a lawyer is able to get the case thrown out, it was pretty fricked up what she did, but they lie (or withhold the truth) to serve a self interest. That's one reason.

Not everyone does, and being honest about everything makes you a stronger person

Nope. There are circumstances where your silence can be used as evidence of your guilt.
How? Freedom of self-incrimination isn’t a “go to jail free” card for police to use. In most cases, you are worse off trying to talk to police when innocent. You have no obligation to say anything. This is how power tripping comes get tilted.
“Why don’t you say anything if you have nothing to hide?”
They are trained to try and pull information, even when they’re using the wrong leads.
