Bc you can buy a good knife that is sharp and good quality steel at the same time. I’ve had the same Buck 110 for over 20 years and have had the blade replaced once (lifetime warranty). Buck in general is a good starter brand due to their warranty. Higher end I prefer TOPS brand, the steel they use is more brittle but has a better edge than Buck, especially if taken care of. Long story short, get them some Buck knives, either a 110 (folder) or fixed blade.
