Imagine thinking owning your own home on your own property shouldn't be the American Dream.

Forgive all the millions of people who came to this country with nothing but the clothes on their backs for finding it appealing to own their own little 8th of an acre rather than slumming it in an old school tenement building or modern day section 8 shithole apartment complex.

Or maybe some people are capable of anaylyzing their options and figure that paying a mortgage for 30 years towards an asset that is part of their net worth is better than paying rent for 30 years to increase their landlordf's net worth?
