I think 25 and above is good.

I would say so. I got a 25 which got me in LSU and got me TOPS so I quit trying.

The only possible way is that she did something really stupid like bubble in question #2 in one section in the space for number 3 and on down the line and ended up scoring a 5 in one section, throwing off the composite.

I got a 28 and had a 3.8 in HS, that only got me $500 a semester my freshman year.

TOPS is such a ludicrous scholarship, it really baffles me why they set the minimum so low

I guess that is why colleges don't require an applicant to take it when applying to school - Since it is such a pointless measurement tool and all.

it also depends on what you normally compare to. i went to a really good high school where probably 50 people in the graduating class were capable of 30+. so, to me below a 30 is pretty meh.
it also depends on how big the graduating class is. 50 out 630 or 50 out of 200? 25 is good/respectable, 28 starts to get scholarships. Sorry, but to say anything below 30 is "meh" is just not accurate.

the dumbest people in my class made 20-25. smarter people made 26-29, and the top of the class made 30-35. so yes, to me, 25 was shitty

I only got a 26 but I don't think ACT is a good test of future success as much as HS GPA and extra curricular activities are.

I have a friend who couldn't get over a 17 but finished undergrad with a 3.8 and got his Doctorate of PT finishing third overall in his class.

Another friend scored a 31 but was lazy as shite and failed out of school after first year.

Just like anything in life you get what you put into it. Natural aptitude is great but when combined with a shitty work ethic it won't get you anywhere.

Scored a 27 first try with no preparation... 32 on the math portion. The 27 got me everything I needed, so I didn't take it again.

25+ would qualify as good IMO.

I wasn't using that to prove anything. just stating why my opinion is what it is.

I took it in 1980. I think it may have been different back then.

I always wonder how this works now. From my understanding, the scores are "enhanced" now, but how does that translate to the actual scores?

For example, what would a 25 today translate to in 1995?

I know it's purely anecdotal, but I don't think the ACT is a very good way to predict college success. I made a 24 and have a higher GPA than most of my friends who all scored higher than me. A few of my friends who scored in the 30s aren't even in school anymore.

I'm sure there's a general trend, but I doubt it's very strong.

There's probably no real way to answer that.

Anecdotal (dirty word, I know) experience definitely suggests that test prep is in a whole other league these days so unless the ACT has made an effort to increase the difficulty of the test, it would be "easier" to get a higher score today.
