Driving home from Forest, MS at night. Not sure if I went to sleep but I had/have no recollection of anything from Kentwood (I55) to Denham Springs (i12). I mean NO recollection. Remember crossing the state line and the next memory Is of seeing the fast food joints in DS. By the time I made it to Hwy 190 in West BR I was having full blown hallucinations.
Don't know how I made it home without wrecking.

Our DD fell asleep at the wheel and hit a mesquite tree on the way to Mexico. I broke my back, ankle, arm, and ribs. We'd have been better off with a drunk driver.

Best way to stay awake is eating sunflower seeds

I had to pull off the Parks Hwy about 90 miles South of Denali and a nap once. If not, I wouldn't have made it. 2 backpackers hitching a ride to Denali woke me up about 30 min. later

Unfortunately when I was 19-22ish we'de leave Tigerland at 2am and make Nola trips and stay until 6-7am and I'd drive back to BR. I recall a couple of "wake up from a drunken stuper" moments when I heard the thump, thump, thump sound of the divets on the sides of the intertstate. Theyde wake me up thank God. Scary now to think I could have easily ran off the road and hit a tree. Young and dumb.

I used to drive an hour to work every morning and had problems with getting sleepy.
Once I fell a sleep just before a red light and swayed over and knocked mirrors with a truck in the lane next to me, that woke me up in time to stop at the light. If I didn't knock mirrors with him I might be dead right now.
But as far as staying awake techniques. The by far best I've come across is to eat/chew/suck on ice. I don't know if it's the sound or the coldness but ever since I found that out I haven't had anymore problems.

Coming back from duck hunting. It was warm in the truck and I got comfortable. I snapped awake 20 miles further down the road with no recollection of how I got there.

After the Florida Game in 2007, I went down to NOLA with a few friends after the win. Now I was in the band at the time and marched and played all day. So I was tired before we went out to the French Quarter. We stayed out all night and had breakfast at Cafe Du monde in the FQ. I went and showered at my brothers house and went to work the Saints Panthers game at 8am. I worked the game and drove home SUnday after we lost. I must of fell alseep around Williams blvd and woke up when I hit the ramp at Loyola. I made it home. Thank you baby Jesus.

My worst was after the Troy game in 2008. We had been tailgating all day, and it was a late kickoff, I think it was homecoming. And despite 95% of the stadium emptying out at halftime, traffic on Nicholson getting out of town was pure hell. If you were there and remember it, it was insanely cold that night. I had to crank the radio way up and drive with the windows down to keep myself awake. Once I hit I-10 though, I was all good.
